I turned Friday and Saturday into my own little sewing marathon. Not that these days are really much different than other days of the week, but I guess I'm looking at them that way today.
Last week, I started working on this project that, initially, I thought I'd be making for someone specific. As it goes together, I'm not sure that is where it'll end up (with them). Partially due to the fact that when I started another project, this same person Sundial was intended for, saw the colours of this other project, and she REALLY liked them....so I will decide eventually. The other reason I am now uncertain if it will end up with them, is because I kind of like it myself! lol For now I'll just keep sewing it together!
It's foundation paper piecing and not something I'm always in the mood to do. So last night, after working on this one all day, I took a break from that project and worked on various other things.
I had suddenly become inspired to use some of my Canada150 fabrics and threw together a piece which I will donate to the Lethbridge Centennial Quilters Guild. Through that organization to which I am a contributing member, I am able to donate quilts and other items within the community and the LCGQ decides where to send them out to. My focus is specifically on providing full-size quilts for the Southern Alberta CAMP (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Program) we have here in Lethbridge Hospital.
So here it was, Friday evening, and I worked on piecing together some flying geese which I had sewn together a couple of years ago. Added the black maple-leaf flannel and voila - quilt top accomplished.
I will get this quilted up and donated. I don't think I'll finish it in time for Tuesday's meeting (our first of 2019-2020 season). For sure I'll be ready in October though.
Once I finished that top, I got working on a couple of fun things.
This week, I will see a friend (M) whom I only get to see a couple of times a year. This is when she makes me feel like a goddess by way of giving Indian Head Massage. Let me tell you Peeps - if you enjoy a massage, and want to feel pampered and really good afterwards, you need to let me know so I can put you in touch with her. So on Tuesday, I'm booked for this loveliness and want to take her a little something to help her remember her cloth shopping bags when she is out shopping. The bag has her favorite photo from the past month transferred onto it, so I know she'll love the bag. And who knows - maybe she (or her friends) will need to have a few bags custom made :)
When I go to see this friend, I also get to see her sister (A), my other friend with whom I used to work with at AHS. This friend (A) is on a hiatus from her LPN career at this time, and sells Stella & Dot so if you need any of that, I can point you in that direction too. (A) has 2 of the sweetest little girls. When I first met (I & Z) I knew I was hooked. They are just adorable and I love following them via their mom's postings on Facebook. Recently, I made these 2 beauties each a little zippered bag of their own. Personalized with name, etc. Well, when I see them on Tuesday I've got another little something for them! I just can't help but dote on these little girls.
Due to circumstances that I won't go into in this Blog, I didn't (and still don't) get to be involved in my own children's lives; so I take advantage of being able to do things like this for children I know and care about, as well as kids in our own Community.
That's all for today...off to quilt with George now.... XO, D
